There are millions of people across the world like me, who suffer from headaches every day. I suffer from migraine the king of headaches, sinus headaches and at times tension headaches. I try to maintain the routine as much as I can still I don’t know what to blame. There are hundreds of reasons that include lack of sleep, tension, fatigue, allergies, hormones, vitamin deficiencies, constipation, poor posture, low blood sugar, and alcohol or drug consumption. For me a hard head knot, being out in the sun, lack of water also works as a headache inducer. At times more than one reason combines and gives me killer headache for days at a stretch.
In those times I don’t know what to do as I hate to take pain killers everyday. So I try to find alternative sources for relief. I take steam bath, drink or eat food that is helpful in migraines, accu pressure treatment and lastly my favourite aromatherapy. There is no easier way; it takes time to get out of the system. You have to use those remedies and sleep in silence for few hours and it will heal. However the best and shortest way is using the aromatherapy in neck, forehead and shoulders blending it with carrier oil. Essential oil relief and help reduce stress.
Best for headaches
Peppermint oil uses has a long-lasting cooling effect on the skin. This oil also helps to inhibit muscle contractions and stimulates blood flow in the forehead, neck and shoulder when applied topically.
Lavender essential oil induces relaxation and relieves tension and stress — working as a sedative, antidepressant, anti-anxiety, and calming agent. Lavender helps you to sleep better.
Eucalyptus cleanse the body of toxins and harmful microorganisms. It also opens the nasal airways aid in eliminating sinus pressure that can lead to a nasty headache, this oil also helps promoting emotional balance and boosting mood.
Rosemary essential oil has a calming effect and improves personal orientation and alertness.
Well I use them in many forms, I dilute with carrier oil and massage, put in hot water and breathe to open nasal congestion and also as a cold compress (take a cloth soak in cold water with lavender oil). In a small bowl take ice cold water, use 5 drops of lavender oil. Mix and use on forehead.
Take 20 drops of any carrier oil of your choice, use each of the above mentioned oils two – three drops each. Mix well and massage on your forehead, neck and shoulder. This will surely help you fight headache even the nasty ones. But try to sleep well 8 hours, drink plenty of water and relax. It is always better to avoid than to heal. For nasal congestion put few drops of eucalyptus and peppermint oil in hot water and breathe deep in. It will sooth your congestion and also help the headache.
