The best quality glass in the world are the Belgian glasses as I have always heard. Clear, dot less, scratch proof glasses are thing of beauty. Nevertheless, I love our green, uneven, unclear glasses more. They have a rustic feel to it. These glasses are stylish and sustainable too. You get drinking glasses, jugs, bottles that are made of recycled glass. With a green tint in the glass they are simplistic beauty.
I am a collector of such glass items. Anything rustic, I am in. Jahanara Cottage Industries is one of the oldest handicraft organizations in Bangladesh used to make such glass items to export. They had a showroom in Aziz Super Market, from where I used to buy. I remember the manager once asked me, I wonder what you do with these dirty looking glasses. I replied then why do you export.. He said as they are crazy people, buys rustic stuffs, you are from Bangladesh what good use do you have of these. I just look at them, do nothing. He wasn’t convinced.
Now a day I don’t see the showroom in that market and I constantly look out for them. Anyone who knows please give me a clue. In the meantime have a look at what I have gathered.
