Tea Ceremony: (East) Makaibari Black Tea

Today it was a brilliant day with dark eastern sky covered with grey heavy clouds. We decided to start our tea ceremony amidst lots of noise by our sons. My brother Mishael, the young blooming tea connoisseur, suggested it is a great time for a Makaibari black second flush. So I went along with him and started off with boiling the water.   Soon it started raining cats and dogs outside; we started our ceremony with East Makaibari black tea.

While preparing the tea, the tea guys told me, this tea is originated from Darjeeling and comes from one of the oldest tea factory established in 1859. This is a highly regarded tea among the tea lovers. This is an afternoon tea, taken with savory items. Then I rushed for some quick Bakarkhani to have it with our tea.

In the meantime the water was ready, he has put two tea spoon leaves and poured hot boiling water inside the teapot only to let it steep for 4 minutes. While it was steeping he went on, Mr. Rajah Banarjee is the present owner of the tea estate and they are in the business for four generations now. Makaibari is not only the first garden to be set in the trade in the world but also the first to market Darjeeling teas. In 1988 the garden was also awarded to be a fully organic tea garden. Makaibari Tea Estate is located in the sloppy hills of Kurseong, Darjeeling.

Four minutes ended and it was now time for drinking the delecacy. The tea was amazingly smooth, subtle and refreshing. It didn’t require sugar or any sweetener. I thanked my brother Mishael Aziz for introducing me to Makaibari black, this was a wonderful tea.
