    Ghost kitchen or cloud kitchen

[ Ghost kitchen or cloud kitchen ] Years of living in Dhaka has given me an incredible amount of ups, as well as downs. However, the first time I got out of this country to visit another, there was one thing I found myself missing dearly. Even though other countries have much to offer in this particular area, I still craved the spices and flavours of Dhaka’s food. That might have been about five years ago and since then, Dhaka’s food culture has developed vastly. An increasing number of international cuisines are being introduced to our pallets, from Asian to…

Rooftop Gardening : Nature and Nurture

[ Rooftop Gardening : Nature and Nurture ] It seems as though the pandemic is a black cloud looming over our heads. A cloud that came and never went away. But people never really let that be the end of the world even though it quite literally felt like it. We were quick to adapt, improvise and overcome. It didn’t take long for us to pierce through the impenetrable dark cloud so we could rain some sunshine on ourselves for a change. Our true colors shone and we found our true selves amongst all the hobbies. The most Therapeutic hobby…

Dhaka and Music – Peace in a Hectic City

Music has been an integral part of most cultures around the globe. To this day, music continues to change and evolve, as more people use it to make unique soundtracks to their everyday lives. Rain, Raincoat & a Rifle

Rain, Raincoat & a Rifle : Rain has a distinct utility. It has a calming effect and power to cultivate your memory. Especially if it is a weekend and mug full of fine Lankan tea in hand. Clouds having a game all day and how I enjoy that. Could get very tricky for the mind. And so it has happened to me. Trudging my memory back to the 80’s. According to newspapers – Maradona has a Hand of God, Afghan warlords were then called Mujahideens and Dhakaites tolerating the autocratic regime. And I, a little boy from Paltan enjoying my…

All that about Monsoon and more…

We Bengalis love our Monsoon. The beams of water pours making us youthful just like a freshly watered old dusty tree leaf. For us a rainy day became so important that it had to be in our curriculum with a must essay called “Memories Of A Rainy Day”. After the hectic , hot, melting Summer, Monsoon comes to revive. Monsoon lasts from mid June to mid August in Bangla calendar .. “আষাঢ় থেকে শ্রাবন”. This season has played a huge part in our Bangla literature by celebrating romance, clouds, rains and the emotions surrounding dancing to the melody of rain.…

    Gems of Old Dhaka

[ Gems of Old Dhaka ] Old Dhaka is always the best part of Dhaka. That part of the city is 400 years old. Historic sites, scrumptious food, antique stores and diverse culture makes this part of Dhaka unique. Mesmerizing old Mughal and British era architecture, heritage food corners and busy narrow roads melt my heart. If you have only few hours to spare I suggest set out for a walking adventure in the narrow streets of old Dhaka. The hustle and bustle, the untidy roads will at first make you uncomfortable, but once you get the hang of it,…
