In inspiration section today we have Saria Saguaro. Saguaro means cactus and she thinks her nick is accurately given. She is one of the best bakers in town, who has her own online cake studio The Flourist. I adore her cakes, especially as they are made of buttercream. Besides making beautiful signature cakes she does painting and creates merchandising items under the name Pretty Shitty art. Though she calls it pretty shitty, but they are very beautiful, creative and bold. Bangla Hues asked her few questions and here is what she replied…
Saria: It was fantastic. Possibly the best year of my life. I attended the campus in Central London, set across a lovely park and next to a museum. Right behind the school is a wine bar and a book shop, that also happened to have one of the best tea shops. I still remember the olive oil and orange marmalade cake there served with creme fraiche – still one of my favorite cakes.
While I attended culinary school I also worked at a supper club, a pop up tea & theatre gig for the elderly with a theatre and performance group, and also got to work at The Wolseley, one of the top High Tea restaurants in London.
Saria: I used to work with fondant. I don’t any longer because it bores me. Always did.
Bangla hues: Do you have plans to start your own cafe?
Saria: No. I run an online cake studio called The Flourist. That’s what I’m looking to do now.

Saria: I’m working on my cake studio now. And I paint. Trying to balance them both.
I happened to take many of my paintings and illustrations onto textile such as tees, underwear, cooking aprons, laptop sleeves and tote bags. And other fun things like coasters, art prints and jewelry. I also work closely with a band called Indalo.
